KISSING AN ICON

When we meet Ray Bradbtuy,
I get drunk on Dandelion Wine
and land on Mars.

You come, a human Fahrenheit 451
and set my imagination on fire.
It becomes same time, same place
next year affair.

You go Hollywood wear leather jackets,
lunch with Rod in Twilight Zone,
show up in wonderful ice cream shorts,
riding in chauffer driven limousincs
on your way to Palm Springs.

Movie moguls give you Ireland.
A great gray whale, you migrate back.
When we meet at the Coronet Theatre
You call me Darlin’ and say your glad I’m
still around.

I know you well enough to tattoo your cheek
with an invisible kiss
you tattoo my soul with metaphors and Melville,
I am an illustrated woman.

Hemingway can never say that I kissed him.
but Ray, every day l cover you with pages
of metaphorical kisses.
